What foolish rhetoric. "We are above - but we're benevolent." The young woman protested vehemently, raising the brim of her wide hat. "The Sun is high above, but it warms and casts light for all - It's within his power to incinerate everyone that walks Creation, but he doesn't." She explained passionately, waving her arms as she spoke - a habit ingrained in the youngest daughter of a loud family. "Human morality and laws are one thing. Good and evil are another thing. I don't need to kowtow to every governor and local authority because I'm above it - that doesn't make unjustified murder any less wrong!" Passion and youth went hand-in-hand, just as youth and speaking in absolutes. Jacie had plenty of both.
The young woman folded her arms and frowned in disapproval. "You came under the guise of a mortal lawman to get the measure of me, where you thought I wouldn't pay you any mind." She stated plainly. "And I don't doubt that you would have quietly stood by to watch if things played out how you like - but they didn't." Jacie levelled an accusing finger at the Dawn, frowning. "What I mean to say is that you intended to get the drop on me, I don't appreciate it a bit, old man."
She returned her hands to her hips and watched as the crowd did it's thing - for a wonder, paying the two Solars no mind. They had a hanging to organize, after all. And then possibly a party. Disturbing how those things went hand in hand. "Don't speak of the hunt like I'm unfamiliar. I've had those dogs barking at my heels since day one." Jacie grumbled. "They mean to do me in - if they can catch me. I don't intend on giving them the chance for a reckoning until I'm good and ready."

"If you carry on like you have, then what you intend on means little. They will find you, they will get the drop on you, and then where will you be?" Many cities were better off after their encounter with the fiery Solar, some more than others. But there were a small number that could subjectively be said to have taken a turn for the worse after she left. Such towns might fuel the Wyld Hunt, give them aid.
"You charge that I only intervened because things were not occurring as I would desire them to. Is that not what you did here with Westwind? The towns before it? You cannot charge that I am somehow wrong for what I have done when it has been the basis for your actions for these many weeks. Moreover, that is the basis for all action in Creation, for better or worse. We see things that we believe to be wrong and seek to change them according to our desires."
"Like Paragon." For the first time Kajek frowned noticeably, though not apparently at the woman. "If Paragon is to be freed from the Perfect's corrupt rule, then we will have to take measured steps in building our support base." He cast a cast towards her before turning back in the direction of a city he could not possibly see visibly. "If we are not careful then the populace will simply see us as another corrupt Perfect. Then nothing changes."

"I intervened, but I was up front about it." Jacie argued sternly, folding her arms. "I don't hide my motivations, or what I am. It's all on the table. You waited until your agenda was at risk to step in, and you waited until it was needed to reveal what you were." The young woman pushed her hat up, revealing the spot on her brow where her caste mark had burned so proudly. "That's the difference. The intention behind it. Maybe every place I pass through ain't changed for the better - but when they rise or fall, it's their own doing. The Sun gave me a second chance to strike down tyrants, and I'm nut going to dishonor that power by hiding it, or what I am."
"And if that means that the Hunt eventually gets the better of me, at least I've lived and died with all my cards on the table." Jacie declared proudly, hands on her hips as she set her sights on the distant horizon along with the Arbiter.
"Secrecy and forced bargains are HIS currency - The Perfect." She mumbled quietly. "The threat of force and arbitrary justice are the tools if the Realm." The short young woman glanced up at her older associate, frowning. "When you get down to it, striking bargains with their ilk means they'll give you the runaround until you collapse - You can't play their game. Like when a child don't want to take their medicine. You don't bargain, you don't play games; they take the medicine, and it's as simple as that."
"I played secrets with Paragon. I played careful steps, hiding in the shadows. And that bastard Perfect..." Jacie bit back a foul curse, grimaced, and turned her attention back to Kajek.
"I've never run across another Lawgiver. And I'll be honest - I don't like you much." She admitted readily. "But I don't know you, either - so if you wanna ride the trail with me, you're welcome to. But I got two rules you gotta understand: no secrets, and when I set foot in Paragon again, it's to burn the Perfect and any who support him to ashes." Jacie insisted.

At the mention of burning the Perfect for his crimes, Kajek's features seemed to darken. "The sins of the Perfect of Paragon are well known to me. I have seen first hand the vice under which he has the people and how he squeezes them for his own glory." Idly, he rubbed the back of one hand as if afflicted by a phantom pain. "No, the Perfect is no different than many of the men who have died here today. He lives in his sin and destroys the lives of others for evil reasons. His life is forfeit."
He paused and seemed to consider something before continuing. "It will be a long time before we are ready to step into the light and free the people of Paragon. If such is your aim, then your strategy must change. Until now, you've simply swept into cities, thrown down your brand of law, and then left. If you truly want to set the people of Paragon free, then we must begin preparations. We will need an army to lay siege to the city, and we must ensure that he cannot turn the entirety of Paragon's people into an unwilling slave army. Deposing the Perfect will mean little if the city falls and becomes a shadowland."
"I do not know yet where my destiny lies. I too wish to see Paragon freed from this so-called Perfect's corruption. Perhaps I will do so alongside you. Perhaps not. If you do not agree with my plan, then perhaps it best that we part ways for now to pursue our own agendas. But know that so long as they are held beneath him, my enemy is the Perfect."
