Bio:
Grey is old, one of the oldest Sidereals. Exalting only a few centuries after the legendary Chejop Kejak, Grey has always been burdened by the heavy duty that rests with all Chosen of Endings. As is the charge of the Chosen of Saturn, Grey has seen to the deaths of more beings than just about anything in Creation or Heaven. However, she does not shirk from this divine mandate. As one of Saturn's Chosen, she takes it upon herself to make sure that everything has its end in due time.
By the time of the Usurpation, Grey was one of the most powerful Reckoners, and among the elder Viziers in power and influence. When it came time to vote, she sided with the Bronze Faction. By Saturn's teachings and words; Everything that has a beginning has an end. The Solar Deliberative was no different and was no exception. And as any proper Reckoner will tell you, every end is the start of a new beginning. The Solar Deliberative would be dismantled, and something new brought up in its place.
However, she was horrified to learn that, as part of Chejop Kejak's plan to usurp the Solar's rule of Creation, the Solar Exaltations were not sent back to Lytek's cabinet to be cleaned and returned to Creation as was normal. Instead they, along with a handful of unfortunate Sidereal casualties, were sealed with the Jade Prison. This was not what was agreed upon, nor was it right. The Solars were mad, true, but they had not the right to prevent their reincarnations.
The Shogunate was a pale successor to the Solars, but it did an acceptable job at maintaining order. Before Chejop could claim total victory however, the Sidereals faced their first great threat. The Great Contagion was something outside of Fate, as it killed mortal, Terrestrial, and Celestial Exalted alike. Untold threads of fate were burned away. What was worse, the Fair Folk invaded at that moment and Creation, already lessened by the Usurpation, diminished further. The Bronze Faction was dumbfounded while the Gold Faction mocked their opposition. And Grey simply observed.
Now the Sidereals had no puppet ruler. The Scarlet Empress could not be manipulated, merely advised. And yet, even this proved temporary as the Scarlet Empress has now disappeared. And, much to Grey's consternation, forces from outside of Fate continue to act upon Creation. She has seen the End of the Second Age in visions which she has shared with no one. If the Second Age is to End, she will be the one to carry out that sentence. However, what will herald the start of the Third Age, if anything, she cannot say.
Appearance:
Despite her short stature, Grey's presence nonetheless commands respect, and perhaps fear. She has two-tone hair; dark purple at the roots and violet at the tips. Her eyes are normally a pale lavender, though take on a black hue with violet flecks as she channels her Essence as a Chosen of Endings. Though some might venture so far as to call her 'cute' at first glance, any time spent in her presence quickly dispels this notion. There is an air of constant tension around her, as if something dangerous was always on the verge of happening. Little emotion, if any, is ever expressed in public.
Her wardrobe is simple and unchanging; a short, black skirt with purple embroidery, a long-sleeved button-up in the same fashion, accented with a short corset. A purple cape trails behind her, somehow never getting in the way of each decisive, booted step.
Her signature weapon is a Starmetal Scythe of perfect make. Balanced supernaturally, the blade spins almost by its own accord to strike those who must be slain, for the benefit of Fate or by Fate's own decree. As she only wields it when something is fated to die or be destroyed, few who ever lay eyes on it live to tell the tale.
Plothooks:
- All things that have a beginning must have an end. This is the mantra that has guided Grey's dispassionate existence for the last thousand years. The Realm was never meant to exist without the Scarlet Empress. Chejop Kejak's pet project has failed. Those who would seek to destroy the Realm may find their actions sheltered, their foes kept off-guard, or perhaps, as the use of Essence can change victory to defeat or vice versa, in their darkest hour they will find themselves face-to-face with Saturn's eldest Chosen.
- Beings outside of Fate should not be. More than unchecked Essence use, these beings cause snares and disruptions in the Loom of Fate. Those who should live for decades are cut short, and those meant to die short, useless lives are given reign to run amok. Anywhere Abyssals or the like can be found, Grey could follow.
- It is rumored amongst some in Yu-Shan that there is a death cult to Saturn, a cult that asks for death to be visited upon others. Perhaps this is true, perhaps not. But if one were to recite a prayer, it is possible that a Reckoner will arrive to investigate. But they might not seek to kill those for whom the prayer is made.
