Sea spray flew over their port side as the small cutter turned to and let the current pull them along toward their destination. Sky had been dreaming of a need to organize their assets and the pull was getting stronger as she moved west. Coral was a mess. Skullstone was a fun of filth and the rest seemed to be content to hide in a whole like feeder fish while the sharks circled. Her eyes bright in the golden sun looked on the waves as they grew larger with more time between sets. It didn't bode well for them at all. The small crew held things together but they needed to get the ship to calmer waters soon.
In the distance she looked at the clear skies and realized the waves were too high for a clear day with moderate winds. Something was wrong.

The sea tossed and raged like an angry beast as they fought to keep the ship afloat. Men cried out to each other over the sun of crashing waves as they battled for their lives against the violence of the waters. Sky, in her trousers and short jacket over a tank top, held fast to the wheel as she tried to guide the ship through the onslaught.
The ship's bow dropped down along a wave that seemed to rise right beneath them and they raced down toward the steep valley below. Near the ship as they raced along the wave a creature rose from the waves. The form was that of a man but made of ocean water with seaweed for hair and pearls for eyes. He looked at no others but Jade Sky as he stood on a column of sea water that held him above the waves. Her bright eyes locked on his as the wind ripped her wide brimmed hat from her head and her long black hair blew furiously.
"Stop this!" she called as the creature stared.
"What will you give me?" he called back As he crossed his arms and she saw small fish swimming beneath the surface of his translucent skin.
"Yu'll 'ave m'thanks and I'll say yer name'n m'prayers t'my father." she said guessing he knew what she was.
"Do you think your Thanks worth so much?" He said as waves crashed over the ship's sides.
"D'ya think m'thanks worth s' Lil?" she said as she smiled at the creature and the storm that they fought.
The creature's lips turned up at the corner in what passed for amusement when suddenly the waves calmed and the rested on a flat sea. The creature drew close to the side of the ship as the crew looked on in awe of the things they were witnessing. Now to see what this little god desired.
