Bio:
Being born into one of the Great Houses of the Realm is not the instant life of luxury that many commoners believe it to be. From the moment one is born, there is the expectation to Exalt, to carry on the legacy of your House name. House Cathak was no different. Born to a strong family line of Exalts, it was known since he was born that Ieyda would Exalt. There was never a question to it. His parents both had the Dragon's Blessing very strongly. He would Exalt. It was merely a question of when.
Like all Dynastic children, Ieyda rarely saw his parents. Familial attachment was considered unbecoming of a child. It was expected that they shed the wasted time of childhood and become proper Dynast, Archery, calligraphy, history lessons, martial arts; these were the toys of he was given to play with, and he played well. Ieyda showed early promise and his parents hoped great things of him, for the glory of House Cathak.
However, when Ieyda drew his Second Breathe at the age of elven, it was not cause for celebration as others. Every Great House had a particular aspect that, if the bloodline was strong, it almost universally displayed. House Mnemon had more Earth Aspects than any. House V'Neef was filled with Wood Aspects. For House Cathak, all the greatest and most pure Dragon-Blooded were Fire Aspects. His parents were Fire Aspects.
Yet Ieyda was a Water Aspected Terrestrial.
Immediate there were charges of conspiracy, betrayal, subterfuge. The boy had been killed and replaced as a child. It was a trick. He was a demon. There were all manner of discussions about what to do with Ieyda. Some even called for his head. His fate was sealed when Cathak Cairan, patriarch of the House, came to visit with the boy that had caused such a stir within his halls. Ieyda greeted his distant grandfather with respect and inquired as to what was to be his fate. The boy did not shirk from the older man, despite the very real possibility that he would decide to have the boy killed. Though he was shown as a child of Daana'd, Cairan saw within the boy's eyes the fire of Hesiesh.
Though his life was secured, Ieyda was not content to simply continue on as if nothing happened. Everywhere he went there were whispers and accusing stares. He had to prove himself worthy to bear the name Cathak Ieyda. This led to him endlessly drilling in the yards, practicing and training whenever time permitted it. By the time it came to select a secondary school, Ieyda did not need a second to decide. House of Bells was the academy for him, and he made sure to give it everything he had.
Though he managed to make a few friends, Ieyda never took the time to really get to know any of them. Every wasted second was a stain on his House, and so Ieyda trained and fought harder than any other. He was a warrior, through and through. His martial prowess was astounding, some would even dare claim it unparalleled. But while he excelled in combat, he was only a moderate success as a tactician. He relied too much on himself and did not delegate duties to full effect. His plans weren't the most elegant, but they got the job done.
Graduating with distinction and honors, Ieyda returned home for a brief respite before being assigned to House Cathak's 19th Legion. Traveling across Threshold to ensure satraps were paying their dues on time, bandits were cleared, Anathema were slain, and Lost Eggs brought into the light of the Realm. During the travels, they even found several Shogunate-era ruins and manses.
Returning home with great treasure and experience, Ieyda begins to turn his thoughts to the future. The Realm was not meant to stand without the Scarlet Empress. Without her, it was slowly succumbing to corruption and cruelty. If no one stepped up to take control, the Realm would be destroyed. Of course Ieyda contemplated the arrogant notion of being that person, but turned it out of hand of his own self-knowledge. He was a warrior, a general perhaps with time, but not a leader of the Realm.
So then he needed to find one who could lead the Realm and save it from itself. But who...
Appearance:
Ieyda resembles a traditional Cathak at first glance; he's tall with broad shoulders and powerful arms meant for tearing apart his foes. Yet he moves with surprising speed and agility. His hair is among the first things to mark him apart from his brothers and sisters, black as the depths of the sea instead of the fiery red so common amongst his House. Though few can deny his status as a child of Daanda'd, he wears the traditional colors of House Cathak.
As with many Legion-bound Dynasts, Ieyda is rarely seen without his red jade reinforced breastplate armor. Connected to the pauldrons is a shifting black cape with the symbol of his House arrayed on the back. He chose the armor that he did because it protects his most vital spots, yet leaves him relatively unconstrained in movements. Pointed boots and loose pants and shirt keep him covered at all times.
When his anima begins to flare, it is simple is appearance. Black waves crash around him, barely hiding the shifting form of a dragon beneath the surface. There is a quiet stillness that settles around him as his anima flares, unsettling many an unprepared fighter.
Yet the thing that makes him the most recognizable is the everpresent weapon in hand. Amongst the crypts and ruins, Ieyda found a rare Shogunate weapon, perhaps even a relic of the First Age. Known as a Five Dragon Spear, the deadly black jade spear pierces flesh, hide, and armor with equal ease. Yet the weapon can just as easily shift forms, becoming a blade not unlike a reaper daiklave. Daana'd's Shifting Fang has brought the young Dynast much fame and attention, though not all good.
Plot Hooks:
- Ieyda is a Cathak through-and-through, yet his status as a Water Aspected Dragon Blooded sets him apart from the rest of his House. Not everyone respects the decision of Cathak Cairan and see the boy as a threat, either politically or physically. And not every other House is exactly sure of what to make of him.
- Ieyda graduated amongst the top of his class at the House of Bells. A warrior of prodigious strength and agility, his home is on the battlefield. Though he has been kept away for years now with the 19th Legion, he has recently returned to the Blessed Isle. Many will be happy to see him. Others will not. And still others will have an eye on a certain spear he carries.
