Bio: Arah of House Ledaal - better known under her cover name of Ephilicia Yskaro - is a Dragon-Blooded Dynast born in the Realm.
Arah’s childhood was not so different from most other Dynasts born from the blood of the High Houses of the Realm; it was filled with tutors who tried to instill within her loyalty for the Realm, and tried to teach the young girl all the various skills that she would need and some she likely would not need in the future. Arah was an Air Aspect in heart and soul from the beginning - driven and single minded of purpose, prone to deep thought, and with an all-encompassing sense of duty to authority she deemed worthy of her loyalty. Once she realized her duty to her House was to become the best and brightest she could be?
She set out to become just that.
When it came time to choose the next stage in her education it was quickly decided she would attend the Heptagram. The social stigma was deemed acceptable when weighed what she would be able to do for her House if she applied the same effort and dogged determination to her studies as she always had.
Life at the Heptagram was hard - it was maddening and often bordering on the insane, but Arah endured and in the process made a name for herself as being fairly… ruthless when it came to the pursuits of her goals. Both a good and a bad thing, really.
Many things happened, but the real catalyst, the one thing that changed everything (for better and worse) was the auspicious moment when the Scarlet Empress called young Arah to her. Only a few days after her graduation - markedly unusual, as graduates were given usually given time - sometimes a long time - before they had to fulfill one, singular task to work off the debt collected. In Arah’s case, it was different; her task did not require immediate action so much as action taken before her reputation as a Dynast was well and truly established. And the duty laid upon Arah would go on for months, potentially years. Perhaps the most remarkable thing of it all was that the Scarlet Empress gave Arah the choice to either accept or refuse this task, but she needn’t have bothered:
When the Empress asks for your service, you offer it without hesitation.
The very next hour she disappeared from the capital, headed with a small escort to Nexus. There, she would spend the next seven years deeply undercover with the gangs and criminal scum of the seedy city, for a nebulous purpose. This was a task she fulfilled to the best of her ability - as was the dutiful Dynast’s custom - up until she got word that her liege had vanished.
With her employer gone, her future on a shaky foundation, she had choices to make. But was Arah still the same woman as the one who had set foot on the streets of Nexus? Would the Realm, teetering on the bring of Civil War, even remember who she’d been, and where she was? Perhaps worst of all - could Arah set aside the woman she’d become; the budding crime lord Ephilicia Yskaro, and return to her previous life upon the Blessed Isle?
Appearance: With skin as clear as the summer sky, grey eyes like clouds carrying the threat of rain, hair the colour of driven snow, Arah carries her good breeding in form as much as in temperament. From time to time, in the proper light, her eyes display a flash of emerald - merely a mild tint to her colour, a quirk of genetics beyond identification. True to her alias, Arah favors clothing that is pragmatic - when her reputation and profession do not demand she go about in armor for her own safety.
In fact, this pragmatism extends to most aspects of her life. Despite her apparent and unhesitating ruthlessness, Arah speaks softly. Her voice is a carefully measured ‘neutral’ accent so as not to betray her cover, although she has been known to spice her language with sharp consonants and abbreviated words in the fashion of the street-level thugs she works with. Although she is not above yelling, Arah does not do so unless she has to… and she is generally too prepared or aloof to have to yell. Arah is not one to use a sword where a dagger would work, and she isn’t above putting that dagger into another person’s hands to keep her own cleaner - such a distinction is often the only line between cutpurse and leader on the streets. She does not walk taller than she must, she is free of the strutting and posturing that plague many Terrestrials born and educated among the Realm. But only a fool would assume that the soft-spoken young woman with the careful steps and the neutral posture were some kind of wallflower - as the wind graces the leaves when it has the power to bring down mountains, she rarely applies more force or noise than is necessary.
Pride in one’s process leads to bragging and showing off. Arah takes pride in her results, but moreover, in her duties.
Potential Plot Hooks:
- Seedy underworld populated by living Gods, Sorcerers with the power of Gods, an evil continent-spanning corporation… and one woman trying to juggle them all.
- Heptagram-graduate - maybe you know Arah from her past… things could get awkward.
